Oregon Arbor Week 2019

Oregon celebrates the beauty and benefits of trees for the first full week of April every year. Our local communities show their tree appreciation through activities geared for the whole family. A select few are listed below. How will you celebrate the trees in your community?

Beaverton will host an Arbor Day tree planting on April 6th.

Lake Oswego celebrates its 30th year as a Tree City USA designated city this year. Lake Oswego will host several tree events throughout the week of April 7 – 13th including tree art time at the library, garden-based activities at Luscher farm, and ivy-pulling service projects to benefit local trees. They will also host a planting of a sapling grown from an extraordinary survivor seed on April 13th.

Tualatin will celebrate trees during Oregon Arbor Week with tree art contests, a guided hike to Hoyt Arboretum, tree planting along the Tualatin river, tree story time at the library, and a tree workshop.

Portland has moved its Arbor Day celebration to October.

West Linn will celebrate Arbor Week the first week of April with a native tree giveaway, pollinator project at Mary S. Young park, and tree pruning workshops.

Hillsboro has earned Tree City USA status this year! They will celebrate this achievement with a ceremonial tree planting on Arbor Day April 22nd.
